The Week's News - 12/16/2016

The Golden Globe nominations are in, on this week's edition of TVEnthusiast's The Week's New.

New shows in development include Transience, The Bastard, Foxy Brown, #Blessed, and Today Will Be Different

Marco Polo, Impastor, and Salem were all canceled, while People of Earth, Search Party, Stan Against Evil, Haters Back Off, and Shameless have all been renewed.

Hulu has acquired the US rights for Channel 4's disturbing miniseries National Treasure, and Miramax has grabbed international rights for the AKB48 starring Japanese horror series Crow's Blood.

Lyndsy Fonseca (Nikita), Kelly Lynch (Magic City), Molly Ringwald (The Breakfast Club), Ignacio Serricchio (Bones), Mina Sundwall (#Horror), Chris Obi (American Gods), Mary Chieffo (Herpes Boy), Shazad Latif (Penny Dreadful), and Sonequa Martin-Green (The Walking Dead) have landed new roles.

The character of Gypsy will appear on The Flash, and John Rogers (The Player) will serve as Showrunner for Starz' upcoming Kingkiller Chronicles series.

The People v. OJ Simpson scored tons of nominations for The Golden Globes and SAG, as well as nearly every possible wins for the Critics Choice Awards. Other shows doing well this awards season, so far, include Game of Thrones, Westworld, The Americans, Atlanta, and The Night Of.

Meanwhile, Facebook is getting into the content game, and Amazon has expanded their Prime Instant Video subscription service to 242 countries.

This Week's Question: With so much of our coverage dedicated to awards shows this week, The Golden Globes in particular, I'd like to know, which Golden Globe nominated series have you watched? And how many have you just not got around to?

The Week's News is TVEnthusiast's weekly roundup of the news that affects the shows you love.
