Li Swiffahs of the world rejoice, this week’s edition of TVEnthusiast’s Spotlight is shining its beacon on the hilarious British series Misfits. A rare series that had shed its entire original cast by the end of its run, and remained just as good as it was before. Not to be confused with the classic horror punk band of the same name, which featured Wolverine look-alike Glenn Danzig, the Misfits TV series was created by Merlin Writer Howard Overman. The original cast of the series included Robert Sheehan (City of Bones) as Nathan Young, Lauren Socha (Catastrophe) as Kelly Bailey, Antonia Thomas (Lovesick/Scrotal Recall) as Alisha Daniels, Nathan Stewart-Jarrett (Utopia) as Curtis Donovan, and Iwan Rheon (Game of Thrones) as Simon Bellamy. Later additions to the cast included Joe Gilgun (Preacher) as Rudy Wade, Karla Crome (You, Me, and the Apocalypse) as Jess, Nathan McMullen (Shameless (UK)) as Finn, Matt Stokoe (Sense8) as Alex, and Natasha O’Keeffe (Peaky Blinders) as Abbey Smith. The series lasted for 5 seasons and a total of 37 episodes on Channel 4, a private British television network (as opposed to the BBC which is government owned).
