As a franchise, The Purge has evolved over the course of three films, and has gotten better with each evolution. That is quite a feat. Election Year not only gives us the best story, set of characters and performances to date, but does a great job expanding on its point of view, even if doesn't always see that expansion through. The films have gone from offering a generic dystopian world to a more specific view of what our world could quickly become if the USA makes the wrong set of choices. That is the single most terrifying thing The Purge: Election Year could ever offer and the film wraps it up in a very entertaining experience.
