FGE - Ed and Lorraine Warren certainly have a storied history, which has led to many movies based on their cases. No more “based” on the reality of what happened than any other horror movie that’s “based on a true story,” but that wouldn’t make for a fun horror movie at all. The Conjuring 2 opens with Ed and Lorrain (Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga) at the house at the center of the Amityville haunting. This was a vital event for the Warrens in real life because it is arguably the most famous, with well-known movies already made about this “true story.” And, since this was already done numerous times, director James Wan and his team made the bright decision of making this event the prologue of the movie, setting up the trauma and premonitions that Lorraine witnesses as the prologue to the case centered in this movie.
