FGE - Amidst the whirlwind of season six, we have come to expect sweeping events and a brisk pace in every episode of Game of Thrones. When a slow, plodding episode follows up a frenetic hour of television like we had last week in “The Door,” it can knock the collective wind out of our sails. The sixth episode of the season, “Blood of my Blood”, does just that. With the exception of the premiere episode “The Red Woman”, it is the slowest episode of the season. However, where “Blood of My Blood” differs from “The Red Woman”, is that it only deals with a few storylines. “The Red Woman” tried to make it to every corner of Westeros, and characters were only left with precious few minutes of screen time as a result. “Blood of My Blood” focuses on the travails of a select few characters, and in the process, we get to see some much-needed growth from these individuals. The events of this week also set characters down paths that are sure to set off fireworks in future episodes.
