The first iteration of the X-Men was created in 1963 by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby under Marvel Comics. Since then, the characters have appeared in many forms through different comic series, television, video games, and films. Although one of Marvel’s most recognizable franchises, the super-powered mutants have found cinematic success under a different company. The film rights to the X-Men were acquired by 20th Century Fox in 1994, and the company has since produced nine live-action films, including their newest release, “X-Men: Apocalypse.”
