X-Men: Apocalypse Review | The Reel Roundup

TRR: Most notable for the way it merges an '80s period aesthetic with the X-Men's colorful comic book look, X-Men: Apocalypse ought to strike a chord with fans of the comics from that era. It's a shame, then, that director Bryan Singer all but jettisons this approach in the film's third act, in favor of yet another climactic battle fought with sleek, futuristic technology and dark, leathery uniforms.
