Why Rogue One May Be the Prequel Star Wars Fans Always Wanted

With the book now officially closed on Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens, Lucasfilm has shifted its focus to the next film set in a galaxy far, far away. If it is, it's only because it's tied to the Original Trilogy and not the Prequels. Otherwise, it's a story we already know with people we don't care about.

For me this movie needs to fill in the inconsistencies that Episode IV has with the prequels. Yes I know this was not Episode IV's fault but it now needs to gel with the previous three films and it seriously does not, like at all.

Things like oh yeah that senate thing, the Emperor got rid of it, anyway whats for lunch?

Or... that supreme leader guy, we arent going to talk about him at all. Instead we will make believe Tarkin is really the King baddie and Vader takes orders from him. Except when he doesn't but most of the time he does!

And of course there is a rebellion, you didn't know that? They totally exist. We wont go over what they are trying to restore, who exactly leads them, are they trying to restore the Princess to power? Is that even democratic? Why is a human centric nation state chiefly being opposed by well just humans? Anyone? No?Hello? (I love Episode IV btw just having some fun).

If it doesn't have any light saber duels, then it's not a pequel I want.
