FGE - For me it all started with The Simpsons movie. Marge had threatened to leave Homer before, even threw him out a couple of times, but when Marge leaves Homer in Alaska it felt real. While the characters all acted in a way faithful to who they are, the tone was oddly solemn, for a world that takes things like suicide and terrorism with a light heart, it just felt jarring.
I just wish there was a show about 6 to 8 three dimensional characters that dealt with situations both mundane and fantastical, that made you laugh, but knew when to be serious….that felt comfortable, yet crossed the line from time to time.
