‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’: Exclusive First Look At Deleted Scenes

EW: Seven deleted scenes from Star Wars: The Force Awakens will accompany its in-home release in April, and here we present an exclusive first look at what to expect from the excised sequences. “There are so many things that end up getting cut because of the greater good, because of the rhythm of the sequence or the need to get on with it, a sense of redundancy,” director J.J. Abrams tells EW. “You don’t know any of these things when you’re making the movie, of course. It was sometimes after months of working on something that you realize finally — you just don’t need it.” Here’s a rundown of what’s been rescued from the cutting room floor…

I loved the movie, but I think with time its appeal (aside from the return of Han Solo and performance of Kylo Ren) will diminish because it relied so heavily on elements of the original film. Even when I think about it now, how was "a bigger Death Star" the best idea to come up with? Again, not that I hate the movie for it, but there are some flaws that will become more glaring overtime. I also missed seeing new alien characters. There didn't seem to be as many memorable ones as past movies.

Pretty much. The return of so many classic aesthetic touchstones of the series glossed over the issues for most fans/fanboys upon release.

Probably all scenes that should have been in the film but were cut because JJ Abrams is scared making the film slightly longer than two and a half hours.
