Ben Affleck Says Batman-Fan Son Too Young to See New Film

Ben Affleck might be Batman to his 4-year-old fanboy son, Samuel, but that doesn't mean he'll get to see his dad in action in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice with the rest of the world when it hits theaters next week.

"Four years old is a little young to see this whole movie," Affleck said in a Friday interview. "I don't want him to have nightmares."

Not sure why this is newsworthy. Why would Affleck care either way if a Korean Batman fan were to watch his new movie? I've never heard of Son Too Young; I'm sure he's a fan of other comic book characters, not just Batman.

There's a line from Joni Mitchell's "Big Yellow Taxi" that says "you don't know what you got 'til it's gone." That's also an accurate assessment of Ben Affleck's time as Batman. Though his initial casting was met with fan backlash (let's feign shock and horror here), he established himself as a credible and distinct Dark Knight. Some fans have even proclaimed him the best Batman there's ever been. The Oscar-winning filmmaker has made it clear that he no longer wants to make big franchise movies, including superhero flicks, so "The Flash" may well end up being his Batman swansong.
