I have a life, thank you. I just choose to spend 10 hours of the year watching Game of Thrones.

He probably means there are a whole lot more serious issues in this world, and in your life, to get upset about, instead of going crazy over some very minor 'spoilers' for a fantasy show, so when he is answering questions and just tells a little bit about his role, suddenly he has thousands of idiots on the internet jumping all over him for 'spoiling' something.

I can understand why he feels the reactions are quite a bit over the top, considering it's just a TV Show.

Great actor but he just comes off like a pompous ass here.

Kreisen2964d ago

The internet certainly is a place where people always overreact but he is being an ass here.

I know fans will always defend their chosen obsession to the death, but it isn't Shakespeare... It isn't even unique. I loved Star Trek and especially Deep Space Nine, but I watched plenty of interviews and behind the scenes and things and most of the starring characters were very candid and frank about how they viewed the shows and their part in it. It is just WORK for many of them, others look at the experience from the perspective of an artist/actor, not necessarily the content itself the way a fan/audience member would. So in that regard, they may care little for the actual content, but put no less effort into their acting performance. Just part of the game.

It has nothing to do about being overly obsessive. We're talking about a guy who's upcoming film is John Wick 2. He's done voice work in movies like Kung Fu Panda. The guys gotten fat off of these exploitation movies. It's a little hypocritical for him to turn around and make these disparaging remarks, it is because of these roles that he has been afforded the opportunity to make films that he feels are more important to him. This is what I like to call the Hugo Weaving effect.

cyclindk2963d ago

What is the Hugo Weaving effect?

Defectiv3_Detectiv32962d ago

Hugo Weaving, after taking roles in films like LoTR and The Matrix and Captain America started to bad mouth these movies. He's pretty much all but disappeared from the public conscience now.

cyclindk2962d ago

Ahh, hadn't noticed and never knew of his bad mouthing. But I like the irony of it, sort of

1st Person: "Hugo Weaving Effect? Who's Hugo Weaving?"

2nd Person: "Exactly."
