You’ve probably heard that the new movie 10 Cloverfield Lane started out as an unrelated thriller called The Cellar (or Valencia). And then producer J.J. Abrams decided to rename it 10 Cloverfield Lane, and make it a “sister movie” to his 2008 sleeper hit. This was probably a mistake, because it underscores that this new film, while entertaining, just isn’t in the same league as Cloverfield.

I loved Cloverfield, but in a way I left thinking this one was better.
Not going to lie the whole making it a "cloverfield" is what made me go see it, but I'm glad I got tricked. If it wasn't good I would have left and never saw a Cloverfield movie again.
That being said I left questioning the movie, thinking about small details, and wondering what theories are right regarding the characters. There are so many ways too approach what happened. It was well written and the acting was miles better than that of Cloverfield.

Plus something to think about. A lot of people were mad because this movie takes place mostly in a cellar. Okay, but how much screen time did Clovey have in Cloverfield? The monster didn't even really appear till past the mid point, and then things didn't get hectic until the final 15-20 minutes. It's the same formula. It's a small story in an overall bigger story.
