FM: Not only has a woman never won the Best Cinematography Oscar, no woman has ever been nominated for the award; a notable absence this year is Maryse Alberti, neglected despite her superlative work in Creed (watch Creed’s first professional fight, which is shot in a single take where the camera doesn’t leave the ring, and tell me she didn’t deserve at least a nomination). It’s worth noting that the Cinematography Oscar isn’t purely the domain of the white male too; Emmanuel Lubezki, a Jewish Mexican (hardly a demographic over-represented in Hollywood) has won for the past two years.

wasn't this movie based on a real story? are you going to tell me there were women there that would fight with the indians and carry pelts on their backs? lots of these camps don't have women around, that is the reality. even today when people go to work camps there is probably not a lot of women.
i find it awfully hypocritical in todays society we have men who open doors for women but how many women do that for men? how many women pay for meals when they go out?
there will always be a sterotypical view of things but when it comes to acting what we need to look at is how many actors out there are white males, women, and of other ethnicity. that is when you can break down the actual barriers. if you don't have many black people for example applying to be an actor then there will always be an imbalance.
