While it’s tempting to pile on Fox for not acting on Deadpool sooner, keep in mind that conventional wisdom is considered wise for a reason. R-rated films cut out a percentage of the potential audience, a loud fanbase doesn’t necessarily mean mainstream moviegoers will share in the love, and Ryan Reynolds has had a string of flops. Fox had reasons to be skittish, but thankfully the passion of Reynolds, director Tim Miller, producer Simon Kinberg, and writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick kept the flame alive, and now they’ve ended up with a record-breaking hit that got a sequel greenlit before the film even opened.
So now that we’ve seen the strengths and weaknesses of Deadpool, what do we want from that sequel? Where does the Merc with a Mouth go from here? Here are five suggestions. [Minor spoilers ahead for Deadpool]
Brad Pitt's kids were massive fans of Deadpool, which meant that he didn't take a lot of convincing to agree to a cameo in the sequel.
Deadpool 2, or rather, its production company (one of them, at least), has been fined nearly $300,000 for the tragic death of a stuntwoman on set.
Controversial comedian T.J. Miller says that he doesn't want to do Deadpool 3, but will anyway due to contractual obligation.
Bring in his teleportation belt and his bottomless weapons bag.
Have his crazy amped up to his comic level. Bring in his other voices. Preferably with some amazing voice cast. Imagine Liam Neeson as that more serious voice who's trying to lead him in the right direction lol
More xmen universe cameos. Really pull together the fact that this world is inhabited by other major players. Plus it helps work towards X-Force
Those are my suggestions. I would say bring in Cable but it's already been confirmed he will be in it.
