Some Star Wars fans have taken to shipping Finn and Poe Dameron. And it looks like they're not alone.
I know a lot of fans are going to be happy about this.
it's to bad that they are clearly pointing at Finn and Rey
another random post with random comments that catapults to the top of the charts? and to top it all off the title make absolutely no sense to me. what does that even mean "totally ships..." ? sounds like nonsense
https://en.wikipedia.org/wi... if you don't know what shipping is i have to ask, how long have you been on the internet?
i've been on the internet for a long long time and never once heard that term used. it's a pretty stupid term to be honest. but thanks for the explanation all the same
Same here, never heard of the term shipping used in that context before.
I've never heard of the term shipping either and I've been online since windows 98. I thought I've heard of almost every internet slangs, even the really geeky ones.
I've been on the internet since before most, but I've never hear that one. Maybe I'm just not down with the kids.
it's a term that came up during the early years of Fanfiction dot Net
What an astonishingly stupid term. What next? Are they going to push "fetch" soon?
Since it was invented and never heard that term. Probably because it's rather stupid and never caught on.
never heard of that term, sorry we're not all twittering narcissistic celeb obsessed millennials with too much time on their hands
I been online since 56k modern and never hear of it ether. Kids this days no respect for their elders 👴🏻 👴 👴 👴 I agree this is a weirdly cute article like a teenager girl trying to speak without saying like
Yeah....Im with a few others, I've been online since dial-up and never heard of that...but I don't really bother keeping up with net terms.
Thanks for clearing it up.
This is just dumb.
Ok silly article
that would be hilarious. the idiots were riled up enough about a black stormtrooper, i'd just love to watch their heads explode if he was gay as well. i can see it now. "what's next, having sex with banthas"
Social justice wars continues to dig itself down an ideological pit of divisiveness. Can't wait to see the movie get banned in half of the countries around the world. Let's see how much cash they bring in then.
They need to leave this out of star wars. I hope this isnt true. Dont make it a love story let alone a gay love story please.
so you hated Han and Leia getting together? or was that ok because they were straight?
Disney would never do it, the world just isn't ready for a gay romance in such a big franchise and not to mention it wouldn't make any sense after almost half of Finn's scenes in the first movie had him talking to or about Rey.
He already seems interested in the girl anyways. Even if Disney were on board...which they wouldn't be....it wouldn't be in line with the characters from the first movie. I'm sure the retconner's will say that he was only interested in her b/f...her cute b/f. Either way, it's a stupid addition which serves no purpose to the story. They haven't set up this movie like the original movies where the romantic relationships were for a purpose...as flimsy as that purpose was.
Eh, I agree, except for Disney not being on board...Disney is a really progressive company and I wouldn't be surprised if something homosexual related made an appearance before the end of the trilogy (though probably not explicitly or from a main character.)
Brokeback Mountain in space lol I can just see it now .. " A Stormtrooper and a Rebel Pilot come together for the first time, to make love... not war." Joking aside though, i think this saga is all about Rey finding her roots not Finn finding Poe's root.
and the original trilogy was about Luke and his journey to become a jedi and redeem his father. but they still fit in Han and Leia's love story.
So where is your terrible argument for finn already havin feelings for rey? Or is their relationship too "old" "traditional" and "conservative" for you?
it will be the end of star wars if they do.
So because the two characters were happy to see each other alive and became fast friends that means they are gay? I'm all for same sex romance in any other movie but it really isn't necessary here. Star Wars doesn't need to be provocative.
Did you not see how they longingly looked into each others eyes, the strong urge for each of them to kiss but they weren't sure if it was okay? They are madly in love!
Lighten up dude, it's just some FUN people are having. Who really cares if they are or not.
Because Star Wars doesn't need to be "profressive"; it's a sci-fi fantasy people watch for escapism, not for edgy drama. It's like suggesting that there should be laser gun battles in "Blue is the Warmest Color".
Lets be honest - that would be freaking awesome. Also Adele using her newly aquired force powers to squeeze Emma's ass from across the room.
I don't think this will happen... I mean, it's Disney, and episode VII was practically "Finn and Rey: a Love story"
Really looked more to me how every other character in the film, should be differing to rey on everything in regards to how the force works, lightsaber combat, piloting and spacecraft mechanics. odd how despite being stranded on jakku since she was a small child, she is apparently a master of everything. I half expect to see her teaching luke about the force in the next movie.
Well, she is the definition of a "Mary Sue"
I would rather have a interesting female character like mara jade from the expanded universe than someone as bland as rey. Well at least the visuals were good, suddenly the prequels don't seem as bad as I remember them. And individual nit-pick that was probably the worst lightsaber battle sequence since new hope.
Disney is incredibly progressive, actually, although typically subtly. . .Except for ABC Family, which they own
People saying it would be awesome because it would be progressive...so let's just add an homosexual couple just for the sake of being progressive without minding if it makes sense to the story... it's like when they say it is awesome that one of the main characters is black because it's progressive, I don't think it's awesome because he is black, I think Finn is awesome because he is a well written and well acted character, the fact that he is black or could be white or asian or whatever isn't important at all... same applies to whether he is straight or gay or whatever
So no one saw episode 4 were luke and han gave each other big hug after the destruction of the death star in celebration? Some of you people are really reaching with this one.
wow, bigots out in force on this one. firstly, it's a bit of fun, don't worry your homophobic little blackened hearts, it might not even be part of the movie. secondly, all the bleating about how "it's star wars, not a love story, you don't do a love story in star wars" ok, except they already frakking did, Han and Leia? "i love you", "i know" horrible right? oh, but that was different because they were straight right? and that makes it ok. sometimes humanity depresses me.
majority in the west dont have a problem with gays being gay. We re talking about a trilogy of which theres already been one movie. Then we get this article and tweets which suggest they should be gay for diversity's sake. No one wants that. If it was developed well maybe but after the first movie it would feel forced. You realize that the physical gay act of 2 men kissing and having sex is something straight men are uncomfortable seeing and repulsed by? They cant help it. Its the way theyre wired just like the way gay people are wired to be attracted to the same sex.
I was with you right up until the last part. That bit was unnecessary and is ultimately irrelevant to the conversation.
On topic though, If they made Finn gay now it would feel forced. The movie has made it clear he is interested in Rey, and this would be a complete 180. I find it incredibly grating when TV/Movies/Games will add gay Characters just for the sake of being gay. Its shallow, its unimaginative and honestly it feels like they are trying to push an agenda. Leave the politics out of my entertainment. If you want a gay character, please do it right, not just because, because that falls flat every time.
@duplissi i was trying to point out the irony of accepting that being gay is natural but straight men naturally being uncomfortable with seeing 2 men in a physical gay act is not something to be accepted as well.
