Deadline: To no one’s surprise, Star Wars: The Force Awakens barreled into its 2nd frame as the offshore gold leader. The weekend added $133.3M to bring the international total to $546M and hit a global cume of $1.09B in a record-setting climb. International estimates are now in from the rest of the studios in what was a weekend heavy with counterprogrammed fare. Fox’s The Peanuts Movie made popcorn with $25.15M in its expansion. Also entertaining the kiddies was the same studio’s Alvin And The Chipmunks: The Road Chip with $8.14M in its international bow.
