One Small Change in 'Force Awakens' That Complicates the 'Star Wars' Series (Spoilers)

The Hollywood Reporter

War is hell, as the saying goes. Now, thanks to what is really just a minor change to an earlier softening of Star Wars' own mythology, that's slowly becoming as true in a galaxy far, far away as it is in reality.

I'm not at liberty to say what it is, but I think it's probably Lawrence Kasdan's most subtle acknowledgment of Lucas's work that just might merge the gulf between the two trilogies.

It will be used as an excuse to add female stormtroopers...watch.

coolbeans3048d ago

Will be?

It already has with Captain Phasma, plus I believe (but not entirely sure) one of the new-canon EU books brings up female stormtroopers, even before The First Order.

I dont usually follow the extended lore in the books but that is just sad. They already started dumbing down the lore in favor of PC.

Soldierone3048d ago

I'm not one for making things PC, but I fail to see how simply having female troops makes it PC?

You have to remember that they are trying to supply huge amounts of troops at all times.

@Soldierone

Oh, I agree. I don't mean for my first comment's tone to suggest otherwise.

Stuff like the new Battlefront game have also made it clear genders didn't really matter with Empire. It was non-human races Palpatine seemed to have an issue with.

mmmm what? there is already one very prominent (phasma)and quite frankly there could be a hell of a lot more for all we know. This article was (they already updated it to reflect they were wrong) under the assumption that in the OT they were still using clones, which is definitely not the case

PirosThe4th3048d ago

Lol wut. Vader already had normal non clones stormtroopers. Not all pf them were clones. The empire did a similar thing because production of clones couldnt keep up with the demand.

I personally thought it made the film interesting. There were multiple Stormtroopers with personalities instead of just being "cool" robots that were walking around. It also gives them credit for future side titles, like the one that will most likely cover Boba Fett. It'd be strange if they randomly make a movie and suddenly all the troopers have personalities.

It was honestly one of the more interesting aspects to me personally.
