'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' has Already Sold More Fandango Tickets Than Any Other Movie Ever

Entertainment Weekly

Here’s one more broken record we can add to Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ growing list of box office accomplishments: The Force Awakens has already sold more tickets on Fandango than any other film during its entire theatrical run.

this movie is going to destroy any and all records.

I wonder if it can beat heavyweights like Titanic and Avatar.

Thatguy-3103050d ago

Highly doubt it will beat Avatar. That movie made so much money because of the IMAX and 3D format. There's no doubt that this will be the biggest opening movie and will also be the top grossing flick beating Jurassic world

ThatArtGuy3049d ago

Star Wars is in 3D and has IMAX showings.

@thatartguy
Yea I know but that isn't its main focus. Avatar was a run away hit because it introduced a new and improved 3d technology that people were wowed with. It was the fad of 3d that catapult it to success. Star wars doesn't have a fad so the movie is just targeted to its fan base. A bunch of people saw avatar because of the new and improved 3d experience. Let's remember that movie only debuted with 78 million here in the states and went on to become the highest grossed movie of all time.

#######SPOILER ALERT##########

As a stand alone movie with the Star Wars label ripped off it's a good action Sc-Fi space movie, however with-in the Star Wars Universe is was a major let down, didnt you think this was just a A New Hope remake?

A droid BB8/R2D2 is carrying important information which has to get to the Resistance/Rebellion, Starkiller base = Death Star, The First Order = Galactic Empire, Palpatine = Snook, Vader = Ren, they even flew down a trench to get to Starkiller Base lol, Han Solo = Obi Wan, killed by the evil Ren/Vader in front of Ry/Luke, Ry/Luke live on a desert planet with there parents no where to be seen, Luke = Yoda, Solo = Finn, A reluctant hero who joins the resistance to to save Ry/Princess Leia from the clutches of the First Order/Galactic Empire.

I came away very disappointed, the film was full of massive plot holes, i took a friend with me who is not really a big Star Wars fan, he came away confused as to what was going on, i had to explain to him alot of the back story from the other movies and SW universe.

I agree with most of what your saying. Unlike the original they didn't take time to develop the characters at all...one action sequence after another...I didn't feel like i cared about them. Then there is Ry, shes just way to powerful for a Jedi with no training...either that or they didn't give me a reason to believe she could be THAT talented. Remember Luke's training? The movie was good, but it could have been MUCH better.

dcbronco3049d ago

I haven't seen it yet but in the old lore, which they still might use some ideas from, the children of two Jedi might have extreme ability I believe. They weren't supposed to mate with each other. But Luke Skywalker did.

I am very much like your friend, i was planning to watch all previous ones so i would have a better understanding. Is there a sequence i should watch the episodes or no??

SniperControl3048d ago

Just watch episodes 4,5 and 6(Hope,Empire and Jedi), that should fill in alot of the plot holes. Me and my friend were planning to watch those movies beforehand, just didnt get the chance.

Like i said above, stand alone, it's a good movie, but with-in the sequence of SW movies, it falls short, most worryingly, it just looks like a A New Hope remake.

xTheMercenary_3048d ago

Thanks man, will watch them when i can.

Tzuno3049d ago

I am not in the hype and i will never understand people that dress like star wars personages and have a room full of figurines.

RufustheKing3049d ago

The movie was not great tbh. To much like IV. 6/7 out of the 10 and as a major star wars fan i kept my expectations to a minimum so it was surprising . So sad :(

dauntingpixel3049d ago

you're the first person i've seen who wasn't completely satisfied.

RufustheKing3048d ago

I am not hating just because its popular to hate. I really am a big star wars fan i love the audiobooks of bane and plagus to KotOR to jedi academy to the old battlefront games, i have vaders lightsaber in my bedroom with a ton of vinyl figurines. I am perplexed as to why i am not liking this film. So iam go to watch it again on Wednesday. The sad fact is the people though phantom mence was great when it came out first, it took awhile for the hate for that to grow.
