Why does this guy have a grudge with the show, is it because they didn't involve him or something

Even I can't comment on Elektra or Punisher because I haven't seen a shred of footage but from the picture she looks alright.

dauntingpixel3300d ago

He seems pretty bitter about it all.

-Foxtrot3300d ago (Edited 3300d ago )

Yeah I know right

Wonder how he felt about the Elektra film because either way this version is going to blow that film out the water, just like Daredevil did for its film

dauntingpixel3300d ago

That's a good question. Are there any interviews with him about those movies?

-Foxtrot3300d ago

Haven't seen any but I highly doubt he would like that version

So if he doesn't like that version then he should at least like this version more

dauntingpixel3300d ago

Maybe he's just becoming a gumpy old man. He's done some great work in his time. You can't deny him of that but to make a comment like this about something he hasn't seen is silly. He should at least check it out before judging it.

Well, most TV shows and even films are really, really shitty compared to their representations in comic books.

Because of the huge expense that films and movies cost to produce, they respond to focus testing in regards to what kind of plot people want to experience, and ultimately what people want to see. Hence, every movie and TV show tends to be very safe, and typical. They play on tropes, and draw people in with the same small handful of plot points, from one show to another.

Comic books are much cheaper to produce, so the authors have much more freedom to be creative. A lot of that creativity is killed by the process of going to film or TV, where there is a much higher financial risk to the production company.

freshslicepizza3300d ago

he's probably upset they did not consult with him. he was the guy who made daredevil and batman very very popular in comic books but the trouble is he does not own the characters.

i think because he has had some success with sin city and rubbing shoulders with movie stars it's swollen his head a bit. he needs to give credit where it's due.

Well, given Frank Miller's drawing talent as of the past thirty years, maybe this means I'll love Netflix's Elektra.

RetrospectRealm3300d ago

So... you've never read Frank Miller's stuff before?

dauntingpixel3300d ago

i found that comment left me a little cockeyed too.

AidenPearce3300d ago

I think he was probably referring to recent Frank Millers gems such as The Dark Knight Strikes Back, All-Star Batman, and Holy Terror.

Silly gameAr3300d ago (Edited 3300d ago )

Frank Miller didn't draw All Star Batman and Robin, Jim Lee did. I think he was talking about how bad his drawing is now, but his writing hasn't really been any better.

OJSoFunky3300d ago

If Miller has seen nothing of the show his opinion is invalid, plus he shouldn't judge TV/film. His film, The Spirit is god awful.

RetrospectRealm3300d ago

How many films/shows all of us on Filmwatch made?

gangsta_red3300d ago

The last person who should have any grudge is Frank Miller...the guy who wrote Robocop 3.

wheatley3300d ago

His comment: “they can call it whatever you want, but it will not be the real Elektra.” Protectively, the author also added “Yes, I’m her father.”

I think he's begrudgingly saying that because they haven't involved him in the creation of this part of the show then it won't be a true version of Elektra. I think all that time Rodriguez spent fanning Miller's ego with "Co-Director" status has meant Miller thinks he should be involved in any adaptation of his work or else it's not a valid adaptation.
