Wired | 'Crimson Peak' Review

WIRED

Ghosts notwithstanding, Crimson Peak is not a horror movie. As director Guillermo del Toro will tell you, it’s a gothic romance.

What does that mean? Well, in del Toro’s vision it means a young author named Edith Cushing (Mia Wasikowska) falls for a mysterious man named Thomas Sharpe (Tom Hiddleston, aka Loki) with an even more mysterious (read: creepy) sister named Lucille, played by living goddess Jessica Chastain. They might be the most uninviting pair of siblings to grace the screen since the Shining twins. But since love is blind, Edith marries into this family and goes to live with them in their haunted mansion in England.
