The edgy, longwinded retelling of the FBI’s most baffling case, there is no short way to describe Black Mass, so as the film says, “Let’s start.”

I recall Depp stating that this was his favorite movie to make. I don't doubt it given his performance here. A shame everyone else is so underused. I'm not one for over-indulgent runtimes, but Black Mass definitely could've benefited from the extra hour they cut.
