TVEnthusiast: Z-Nation Season 2 Impressions

Z-Nation is a hard sell to all but the most dedicated zombie aficionados, as in the ones who watch everything featuring that brand of the living dead. I approached the series with equal parts hope and skepticism. I liked that there seemed to be an end goal in place, which differentiated it from The Walking Dead. I also liked that Harold Perrineau (LOST) was in the series. On the other hand, some of the other acting performances seen in previews was a bit sloppy, the production values seemed a little shlocky, and the overly prominent zombie baby in the commercial just looked dumb to me. In my anticipation of a different kind of zombie series, and my trepidation at some obvious flaws, I completely missed what the series actually was. In fact, my inability to recognize the show for what it was lasted through several episodes of the first season. During which time, I was always right on the edge of abandoning the series. Eventually I came to realize exactly what the show was, and that is when I became able to embrace it for what it was, rather than dismiss it for what it wasn’t. Having been able to enjoy Z-Nation for what it was, I was excited for the opportunity to check out the screener for season 2’s first episode. Season 1 ended with everything, seemingly, in flux. Murphy took off on his own after shedding his skin like a snake, and nukes were launched at the locations of nearly every protagonist in the series. So I found myself wondering, what is season 2 going to be? If season 1 was a very bumpy road trip towards California, now that the car has a flat, what is in store for season 2.

I really like this show and towards the end of the first season things were getting very weird and interesting with Murphy so I can't wait to start watching again this Friday.
