Hugh Jackman Would 'Seriously' Consider Playing James Bond

EW

Hugh Jackman is getting ready to hang up his adamantium claws after playing Wolverine in the X-Men films, but he wouldn’t be opposed to trading them in for a dashing suit and Aston Martin.

WizzroSupreme3154d ago

I'd be down for that – but they'd have to write a story that accompanies Hugh Jackman's obvious age that's still on par with Daniel Craig's.

RetrospectRealm3154d ago

Never gonna happen. He's not even British.

sonicwrecks3154d ago

Pierce Brosnan is Irish and George Lazenby is even further removed as he's Australian - so there is hope and precedent for Jackman.

Lord_Sloth3153d ago

Neither is Sean Connery.

iamnsuperman3152d ago

@lord_sloth

Sean Connery is British.

OT: I think he is too old now. Michael Fassbender is the right age and a more suitable bond.

freshslicepizza3152d ago

sean connery is scottish. michael fassbender would be good. don't think hugh would be a good choice however.

I doubt his age would be a problem. Although I'm having a hard time seeing him as Bond.

Lord_Sloth3153d ago (Edited 3153d ago )

Watch 2 films. Kate and Leopold (while mediocre at best he plays a sophisticated english gentleman quite well) and the Prestige simply to display his acting prowess outside of Wolverine.

I think he could do Bond justice.

Porcelain_Chicken3153d ago

@Lord_Sloth

I've seen both lol. I love The Prestige. It's not a matter of acting prowess. Without a doubt Jackman has that. I just can't see him in this role. It's more with personal perception than with Jackman really. If he is chosen I'd give him a fair shot and give credit where it's due.

RetrospectRealm3154d ago

@sonicwrecks Not really. Times have changed. They said they want a British Bond.

StarWarsFan3153d ago

I'd back Hugh Jackman. I actually haven't been the biggest fan of Daniel Craig. He's okay, but I guess his only attraction has been that he's different from past Bonds. Although, I like past Bonds more.

ChrisW3153d ago

Wasn't there an article not too long ago stating that they are looking for a black Bond?

dcbronco3153d ago

Yeah. Cause that would be consistent. I'm black and I think that's stupid. Everyone doesn't have to get a chance. After that eskimo bond.

malizlewa3152d ago

Id be against any black bond, however Idris Elba objectively would make an excellent bond for being a great actor who is both suave and badass.

dcbronco3152d ago

I'm not into "tradition" but I believe you don't have to just do things just to be inclusive. But when you bring up Idris Elba it does sound kinda interesting. He could be a good Bond. And he wouldn't have to fake the accent.

Ipunchbabiesforfun3152d ago

Seriously? A black bond? This world is stupid! Bond is a white dude, it's one damn movie role for christi sake, KEEP HIM WHITE! Why does everything have to be racially correct these days?

Porcelain_Chicken3152d ago

Idris Elba IS technically British. So I assume that's kind of a grey area.

KingPin3152d ago

@porcelain

correction
Bond is a WHITE MALE. (im not a racist but thats the actual description of james bond)

like Ipunch said above, its one movie role. if they wanted a black spy, they could create a new character altogether. i dont see anything stopping them. Mission impossible series and the bourne series did it and they were both successful.

dcbronco3152d ago

Chicken what do you mean by technically British. The guy was born and raised in London. I think that makes him fully Brit.

Tzuno3152d ago

It would make a funny bond, M is that you? yes "doubleoXeven"
