Chris Columbus Wants To Direct Another Harry Potter Movie

EW

Chris Columbus stopped by Entertainment Weekly Radio (SiriusXM, channel 105) this morning to talk about his new film Pixels, but he also was open to chatting about his time at Hogwarts. He told Jessica Shaw and me about how he originally wanted to direct the entire series of films, but stepped aside because he was worried it would take him away from his family for too long.

The story is too old to be commented.

Frankly, I liked the Harry Potter movies directed by Chris Columbus the most. I would have loved to see him directing Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them.

They were good, but Prisoner of Azkaban is still my favorite.

Well, even if the first two aren't your favorite, I still think he deserves a lot of credit because he did the first film, fundamentally building the movie franchise from scratch whereas the rest built on top of previous installments. Everything done in the first film had to carry through into the rest: costumes, production designs, etc. In that sense, Chris Columbus did a perfect job.

Of course! However, he didn't really convey the Quidditch rules very well. A friend who had never read the books was confused and said, "Why didn't they all just go after the Snitch?"

I had to tell him that in the books the game is explained better.
