Matt Bomer Almost Played Superman For Brett Ratner And J.J. Abrams

While Warner Bros. is building a cinematic universe off of its 2013 Superman film Man of Steel, the cinematic trajectory of Clark Kent almost went in a drastically different direction over the last decade.

Speaking with Josh Horowitz on his Happy, Sad, Confused podcast, Magic Mike XXL star Bomer discussed the process that almost had him playing Kal-El in an adaptation directed by Brett Ratner and written by J.J. Abrams. The script focused on Superman when he was younger and in college and had a more “light-hearted [tone] in many ways.”
