IGN: My strong suspicion is that “Maybe Tomorrow” will function as a make or break episode for many. You’ll either connect with and enjoy the David Lynchian open and concede that last week’s fake-out made for a good cliffhanger, but that the series is ultimately better off with Colin Farrell’s Velcoro left breathing. Or, alternatively, some may feel that the neutered bullet attack was a cheap trick that the show used to manipulate viewers into some water cooler speculation. Of course, there’s also the none-too-subtle jab at Cary Fukunaga in the form of the blowhard movie director who looks shockingly similar to the True Detective Season 1 helmer in the mix. That bit of theatre will also likely have an impact on the viewers who picked up on the reference.
