'Inside Out' Review | The Reel Roundup

TRR: Quite possibly Pixar's most imaginative film yet, Inside Out envisions the world within the mind of an 11-year-old girl named Riley. It's a place where dreams are churned out like Hollywood productions and the zaniest of thoughts come to life as theme park attractions. And it's where you'll find Joy (Amy Poehler), Sadness (Phyllis Smith), Fear (Bill Hader), Anger (Lewis Black) and Disgust (Mindy Kaling), colorful embodiments of Riley's five main emotions. This fab five have seen Riley through all of her ups and downs since the day she was born. But nothing can prepare them for the emotional roller coaster set into motion when Riley and her family move halfway across the country. Both hilarious and heartwarming, Inside Out is classic Pixar through and through, a movie underpinned with genuine emotion and brilliantly sly psychological metaphors, all culminating in a poignant life lesson about growing up and discovering where we belong. It's as touching as it is visionary. And as far as emotions are concerned, it will leave you feeling warm and fuzzy.
