Dan Aykroyd Promises ‘Ghostbusters’ Reboot ‘Hits the Right Notes’

CBR

Bustin’ makes Dan Aykroyd feel good, no matter whether men or women are wearing the proton packs.

The co-creator and co-star of “Ghostbusters” is anything but haunted by the fact that the iconic franchise will be stewarded by a new generation of supernatural investigators, with Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon starring in director Pau Feig’s reboot. In fact, he’s downright giddy.

Still not going to see it.

Well of course he's going to say that

Doesn't he get money in some form being the creator of the original.

Like James Cameron praising the new Terminator

Bridesmaids, The Heat and Spy are completely different in tone and humour to what was found in Ghostbusters. It's not going to be the same.

Imagine if they remade sister hood of traveling pants, but with all males and they basically made fun of females the whole movie. It would be called sexist, derogatory and unnecessary. I have a feeling that's what Ghostbusters will be yet it doesn't get any of the same legitimate criticisms levied at it because well females. Large male demographic from the 80's love this movie, hey let's put McCarthy's tired Shtick on film and make it all females completely alienating anyone with similar comedy tastes to the original movie. That's my problem, McCarthy is not Murray or Akroyd and the spirit of the comedy will just be shat all over.

Sexism aside. The movie is gonna probably suck simply based on comedic reasons. Not that this cannot be funny but the original Ghostbusters were funny in a very unique way. They had adult humor in it that Hollywood has since forgot how to do. I honestly don't find many comedy movies today all that funny. Especially McCarthy's stuff. Spy was worth a few chuckles but nothing on the level of Ghostbusters.

No matter what happens we always have the originals so I ain't worried. Just because Alien Vs Predator sucked doesn't mean I stopped loving the originals.

It can't be any worse than Evolution.

Aldous_Snow3232d ago

Lets hope Egon makes an appearance

You realize that Harold Ramis died on February 24, 2014, don't you? As much as I wish he could be involved, he just can't be.

Crazay3231d ago

And with him - any chance of a proper movie died.

Aldous_Snow3231d ago (Edited 3231d ago )

How will that stop him from appearing in the movie? Its Ghostbusters after all

hazelamy3230d ago

first it'll suck because the main cast aren't involved.
then Dan Akroyd, who's execituve producing, says it's awesome, then it's, what does he know? he's only in it for the money.

but there'd be the same outcry if it was four guys right?
yeah, and i'm the queen of England.

i'd love to see the manchildrens faces if this becomes a billion dollar movie.
your oh so fragile masculinity may just snap altogether.

yeah, before anybody says anything.
it could flop.

but you know what, i'll live.
i won't take is as a personal insult to my gender like some people on here seem to be doing.
