This two-hour premiere was a little slow in getting started, with much of "The World We Seize" seeming like it was setting up a return to the usual status quo. But once the bullets started flying and major characters started dying, it became clear that Defiance isn't resting on its laurels this season. These two episodes paved the way for a darker and more unpredictable Defiance, and that's just what the show needed after a bumpy second season.
