Studios cannot subsist on Marvel movies alone, 21st Century Fox co-COO James Murdoch told investors Monday at the JPMorgan Global Technology, Media and Telecom Conference.
It's just too difficult for others to compete with Marvel now. They had something going with the X-men/Wolverine films (to an extent), but it just wasn't enough for them to carry and expand. Especially with the slate of films scheduled from Mavel and DC
They sure as heck beat Sony. Don't be too hard on yourselves, Fox. You had Days of Future Past last year and this coming year will give us Age of Apocalypse.
I think he's alluding to the fact that they have 3 Xmen related movies coming out next year. I agree with him, this superhero arms race is ridiculous. Maybe in another 10 years well get something like a Mad Max Fury Road again.
