In typical Woody Allen fashion the film revolves around a philosophy teacher (Joaquin Phoenix) going through a existential crisis. As he puts it he can’t write, he can’t breathe. All that changes when starts a relationship with a beautiful young student (Emma Stone).
Allen was so determined to keep the plot of Irrational Man under wraps that he didn’t even tell his stars what it was about. Posey reveals she only got to see 20 pages of the script. “I had no idea what the exact mood of the movie was,” she said. “I had no idea how I fit in or how the other characters thought of me.”
The title Irrational Man is a reference to one of favorite Allen’s philosophical essays by William Barrett titled Irrational Man: A Study In Existential Philosophy, which introduced the concept of existentialism to the anglophone world.

is there really much of an audience any more to go see woody allens movies in the theatre? the guy should just make tv shows. nothing about this movie gives a glimpse you have to see this on the big screen.

As an enormous fan of Woody Allen, I am looking forward to his film every year. He is a guarantee of a quality film. Can't imagine what will I do once he is gone.
