"Geek goddess" and The Newsroom actress Olivia Munn has been cast as Betsy "Psylocke" Braddock in the forthcoming X-Men: Apocalypse, director Bryan Singer announced today via Twitter.
Hmm, interesting choice. I know she's had a few small roles but can she act? Well I'm definitely excited to see Psylocke! Bring on the ninjas!
To answer your question rather bluntly. Umm, no. haha
I've always felt as though the X-men movies were really well cast for the most part. So I'll trust they know what they are doing for now. Hopefully she's taken acting classes or something.
well for once, shes a hottie so that gives her an automatic pass
Interesting...it's like a mix of the original Caucasian Psylocke and the more popular Asian version that everyone knows.
Wonder how she was cast. It definitely wasn't her acting talents...
Love your avatar
Love that game
Wow. She's definitely come a long way from her G4 days. She also looks the part. Hope it works out for her.
Wonder how big of a role Munn will have as Psylocke, because yeah, not exactly an Academy Award winning actress...
I was a bit confused about this myself...I like her and used to watch G4. I know she's had some bit parts in a few films and she was on the HBO Newsroom show, but I think it's important to remember how most of the "newer" X-men are treated in these films...with VERY small roles. If Bishop didn't have much to offer in DOFP, neither will Psylocke in Apocalypse. Especially, since we've already seen Psylocke in The Last Stand.
I had to look that up I had no idea Psylocke was in X3.
Yeah, if you blinked she was easy to miss. They literally gave her a 2 minute scene with Magneto where she talks about power levels and a cameo in the final battle- nothing more. Which, kind of explains why they're bringing in Munn. She'll likely have a bigger role.
She looks the part but I doubt she can pull it off.
