IGN | The Gunman Review

IGN

Pierre Morel's latest actioner The Gunman has a strong lead in Sean Penn, as well as several cleverly executed set pieces. The fistfights are sharp and the gunplay is satisfyingly brutal, true to Morel's Taken style. However, the film gets off to a slow start and is humorless throughout. That's not to mention the characters, which are uninteresting and forgettable. While it has its fair share of white-knuckle moments, The Gunman gets bogged down by uneven storytelling and a mostly wasted cast.

I've wanted to see Sean Penn in some action movies for a while.
