Blu-ray Review: Tales from Earthsea | Cinematically Enigmatic

CE: Following in the grand footsteps of movies like Nausicaä and Howl's Moving Castle, Goro — son of Hayao — Miyazaki's directorial debut, Tales from Earthsea, draws its inspiration from author Ursula K. Le Guin's "Earthsea Cycle", as well as the senior Miyazaki's 1983 manga, "Shuna's Journey". But while it's a valiant attempt at emulating Hayao Miyazaki's aesthetic, it also fails to earn the right to be called a bona fide Studio Ghibli classic. Still, that doesn't mean moviegoers should take a pass on it. Tales from Earthsea still qualifies as worthwhile viewing for fantasy-adventure and animation fans alike, especially when the Blu-ray looks and sounds this good.
