While Stephen King is responsible for some great film adaptations thanks to his terrific horror source material, some aren't as good as others.
I actually don't like the Shining. The book is amazing, as is the sequel, Doctor Sleep, but the movie with Nicholson is terrible. Granted, I read the novel first and Kubrick's idea of leaving "The Shining" out of the movie really ruins a great story.
Instead, we end up with a movie version of Hotel California by the Eagles. Maybe that is what the movie should have been called.
