Why I Now Have Hope for the New Fantastic Four Movie

Tony Polanco from The Koalition writes:

"As the days passed, I couldn’t get the trailer out of my head. It had a strange hold on me and wouldn’t let go. I thought about the tone of the movie and how it didn’t turn me off. In fact, the more I thought about what I saw, the more I actually liked it. I finally realized what this movie was going for. After reading a few interviews with the makers of the film and seeing fan videos dissecting the trailer, I’ve now become cautiously optimistic about the movie. Consider this a case of me eating crow, people. Let me explain myself."

Awesome job on this piece, but I must say I'll never have faith in anyone else but Marvel to deliver on a movie based around their own characters. After seeing the train wreck that was The Amazing Spider-Man 2, I'm officially done with these studios trying to make marvel movies. Marvel needs to either buy back all these characters or just eliminate them from there universe altogether lol

There's a lot of bad sure, but to be fair some of the best Marvel movies didn't come from Marvel studios. And by best i don't mean "omg universe building, Easter egg estavaganza, humor safety net, pointless filler movie made only to set up future movie omgz!!!!" kinda best. I mean great story, dialogue, memorable villain, hero motive, villain motive etc. I'm talking about movies like Spider-man, Spider-man 2. X-men 1, X-men 2, X-men:FC, X-men: DOFP. When you put a movie like Captain America: The First Avenger next to those, a movie that was only made to introduce one character and one McGuffin for future movies well... You kinda get my drift. A movie should be a self contained unit and a memorable one all to itself. When you need a 5 movies next to one to make it look good, make it look like it contributed to a bigger picture than something went wrong. Doc Ock and Magneto are both awesome memorable villains. Red Skull and Whiplash were both (sadly) pretty forgetful. It's how I think things should be judged.

As for the article, it's a good written piece for sure but I'm still super skeptical about this flick. I'll watch it with low expectations and hope for the best.

I like this version of the film so far. It doesn't have that childish comical sense to it. And I no that the comics have that type of style in it, but I definitely wanted more from it as a movie!
