"Her snub meant something deeper; her snub was about her future and the opportunities being nominated could afford her, especially in a white male dominated world and in an industry where hypocrisy is alive and well (97% of the nominees are Caucasian) in 2015. Like Clint Eastwood who was snubbed for directing American Sniper, there’s a certain privilege for being Caucasian when Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences season fails them; their career can bounce back unscathed even when they create rather horrid and mediocre movies."
