Thoughts on Scarlett Johansson Ghost in the Shell Casting

I was quite taken aback by the news of her casting; however, I was even more surprised that there was a Ghost in the Shell adaption in the making. when movies like this come out.. even though i really want to see them.. just cause im a fan... i dont give them my money with ticket sales in theatres.. ill wait for netflix or something or the internet to get it. I wont support white washing and bad casting.. sorry... lol.. There must be some racist ass hollywood execs up there..

I'm confused...how are the characters' ethnicities in any way crucial to the plot? Until someone can answer this question for me, these complaints will just ring hollow. Do people really think just because they've seen a little anime they are an expert on Japanese culture? Can these same people name even one Kurosawa film?
