Director Paul Feig (Bridesmaids) talks in detail here about his decision to reboot the Ghostbusters franchise, why he chose to focus on female characters, how the cast is shaping up, making a "scary comedy", and why the movie won't end up being R-Rated.
With the new The Crow remake coming soon, we take a look back at the 30-year-old cult classic original–and where the stars are now.
Kaam Chalu Hai Review: Based on true events, this movie is thought-provoking and inspiring
Rebel Moon Part 2 Review: This movie doesn't feel anything new or worth remembering, which is a shame.
Because it's a gimmick to make an old franchise seem "more fresh"
Nothing more
Why did they let this guy do Ghostbusters...I mean really.
"I have too much respect for the original one [to do a sequel]"
So you'd rather disrespect it even more by doing a reboot with an all female cast just so it can be marketed as a gimmick"
I don't understand why you would limit the cast to one sex to begin with. I'd like to see both male and female actors playing the title roles.
Congrats Hollywood, you finally realized that women watch more than just romantic comedies. If you really want to appear open minded, then why not let a women actually direct for a change? Why not cast a woman over the age of 40 not named Meryl Streep? Because you haven't really changed, it's just a marketing scheme as others have said.
I don't see why they didn't blend it. That I'd be interested in. Have a few male characters and female characters and give it that dynamic feel to it.
Simply making it all female and then advertising that makes it purely a gimmick, or like above stated, a sad attempt at "making it fresh." It's dumb. This won't be any better than Ghostbusters 2.
i think this might bomb, unless the original cast comes back and they show them in the trailer its gonna be anarchy
I will not pay a penny to see it. I will only watch it for free. They are taking a huge dump on a classic franchise.
If you want to do a similar story to Ghostbusters but want to totally piss on the original film. Call it something else.
I don't want another Italian Job.
