How you approach the film will decide your level of enjoyment. If you’re going into this demanding some kind of somber, epic living fairy tale in no way deviates from the children’s book, then, well, you’re approaching this movie wrong. The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies isn’t concerned with staying strictly true to the source material just an imaginative fantasy action movie. If you’re willing to engage with it on its own terms without your own projections and expectations, you’ll have a lot of fun
