An inside source at the Marvel building in New York has confirmed seeing toys with the brand Marvel’s “Adventures of Spider-Man,” which could also confirm that the web-head is indeed returning to its rightful place.
The biggest giveaway that the deal has already struck is that Marvel has added TWO new untitled films to their upcoming schedule, the schedule that was previously released.
These films are slated for 2017 and 2018, and all they have, in lieu of a title, is a picture of a can of RAID. INTERESTING!
Hot take: You can love both. Yep, it’s not illegal. No need to pick sides, people—your heart’s big enough!
Show fangs for what the Twilight cast has been up to after Breaking Dawn.
The McCallisters in Home Alone might be the worst parents of all time.
Sony and Marvel Studios don't have anything to do with Disney Infinity. Sony owns the FILM RIGHTS, nobody cares about the video game rights. Marvel Comics still owns the Spider-Man character, just not on film. Activison owns his video game rights I believe.
And the fact that every other site is saying the deal is off means I'm calling BS on this one.
Well if true hopefully these new films won't do another origin story.
I know Peter is a high school student as Spiderman but we've had 5 films on it now, they need to show Peter out of highschool who has been Spiderman for a long time, especially if they are bringing him into the Marvel Universe, so basically older and worn down. They just need to have the first film with him coming out of "retirement" after he apparently gave up on Spiderman so it would explain where he's been all this time.
Maybe once he married MJ and she got hurt by a villain he decided to give it up for a while.
Would be great if Venom would be introduced, something which makes him put the mask back on and then in the background story in the end they can reveal a Carnage off spring.
"but up until recently Disney/Marvel had been under-utilizing the character as it was helping its competitors when they did." Wait, what? I'm not sure if you've been missing out on the last several years of the cartoon series or even been in a Disney store in the last couple years, but Spider-Man is ALL over the place. They've been using him like crazy because they still make money off the toys and the Disney XD cartoon series.
As for Ultimate Spider-Man and Spectacular, these would also be the names of the cartoon show(s) they've been working on, Ultimate having already been through several seasons. None of this is indicative of the rights being back with Marvel...at all. It's indicative of a company that's making the most use out of the rights they CURRENTLY have as they've been doing for a number of years already.
"Ultimate" and "Spectacular" are the names of the cartoon, which Disney HAS been marketing like mad. Spider-Man is the most marketable character they have, they won't leave him ou just because Sony makes the movies. He is the number 1 cartoon and number 1 comic book monthly. Also in regards to the game being the ultimate source, at E3 Spider-Man was all over their display in every possible way. He was swinging right up front of the booth.
If anything, this could mean the Spectacular series is coming back which would actually be exciting news!
If, by some miracle, this "source" is correct then that sucks. I hate the Ultimate series of comics. That being said he isn't right. The deal would be MASSIVE, and that much funds slip into Sony's bank go un-noticed? Right.
I want to believe that they do. I want Spider-man in the Marvel movie universe!
