Quite a few are on Netflix I believe, or at least available on DVD.

If you haven't seen Peaky Blinders, I'd probably describe it as a British version of Boardwalk Empire - but with more of a rock n roll style going on! Utopia is also amazing, and getting a US remake from David Fincher funnily enough.

Don't know if VOD isn't being counted here, but the second season of House of Cards' final scene nailed it for best dramatic finale of the year for me.
