V/H/S is the most recent franchise to establish itself by the use of found footage, while it does share the same general ‘found footage’ technique found in films like Paranormal Activity, it challenges the formula through its use of unorthodox themes, scenarios and compilation format. V/H/S and its sequel were received with mixed reception, but most horror junkies seemed to enjoy the way the films shook up the genre, particularly by the clever integration of several smaller horror shorts into one over-arching storyline. The question is – does V/H/S Viral address the flaws evident in the first two instalments, or does it proceed to worsen the lukewarm reputation of the series?
