"After almost giving up on Gotham last week, tonight’s show turned out to be thoroughly engaging and the best episode thus far. After all of the double-crosses and twists, which are usually reserved for finales, ‘Penguin’s Umbrella’ showed Gotham’s potential. I do not know if the writers can keep this momentum—they probably have to return to the procedural format—but if they can continue to weed out the bad and rack up the tension, then Gotham could truly change its course as a sub-par show."
