No surprise that this movie sucked. I had hopes, but now they are dashed.

Was never interested from the first time I saw the trailer. Though I guess I should give them a little slack given the fact that this is the director/screenwriters first film.

Movie looked interesting to me and I like the actors involved. I'll be seeing this either in the theater if I get the time. But I will definitely buy this on Blu when it drops.

I don't listen to critics myself and I'll get the dvd and watch it at home too.

My problem is I don't understand why everything needs to be "epic" these days. What happened to small centralized stories? Or character driven stories? Robin Hood, Dracula, the list is endless of people making them "epic"

I mean honestly, who saw Dracula and thought "it would be awesome if this big massive battle broke out and two countries were going at it, and Dracula was there!" Was it an attempt to make a bigger Underworld?

1nsomniac3486d ago (Edited 3486d ago )

Lol it's based around a battle with "Dracula" in the centre of it because that's what happened in real life & where the whole folklore of Dracula originated from in the first place - Vlad the Impaler = Dracula.

Surely you've heard the story at some point in your life or brushed over it in school or something??

Soldierone3486d ago

Nope our school system here is rather bad and I never read anything like that. You got me interested though so I will learn about it on my own. (If you have any useful sites let me know!)

I see Dracula and I see a small character, not vampire sucking "bleh, it's me Draculaaa!" but not like 300 style epic either.

1nsomniac3486d ago

I remember my History classes were crap in school aswell so cant blame you. This is just one of those stories that always end up cropping up every now & again though in random history programmes on the TV. Hollywood also did a good job of taking the folklore & running wild with it.

annoyedgamer3486d ago

Its 300 styled. Sadly 300 is now PC garbage and everything else that tried to copy is now ruined. Nobody wins. We are approaching Halloween an Vlad the Impaler is a goldmine for a dark and disturbing story about killing people by impaling them on wooden sticks...but instead we get a 300 wanabe that is neither epic nor disturbing. Unless one counts how disturbingly pathetic it is.

That's right on the money. No doubt, much of the disappointment in the film is what Universal COULD have done with Dracula in October. I wish I included your perspective in the review!
