The Playlist:
J.C. Chandor and Mark Wahlberg are both on the hunt for Oscars this year. The writer/director has "A Most Violent Year" on the way, starring Jessica Chastain and Oscar Isaac, while the actor will be rolling the dice with "The Gambler." Both are among the most anticipated but as yet-unscreened movies left on the calendar. Next year, the pair will join forces for the 2016 awards hunt.
Summit Entertainment has announced that "Deepwater Horizon" will roll into cinemas on September 30, 2016. It might be a little early for Oscar consideration, but past years have seen films like "Argo" and "The Social Network" do well in that time frame.
Lovers Anonymous Review: This series reminds us that every concept—even one as extraordinary as this—requires a great story to really connect.
TNS: "Peter Pan's Neverland Nightmare takes its Twisted Childhood concept extremely seriously, for better and for worse."
TNS: Ke Huy Quan returned to the spotlight in Everything Everywhere All at Once, but he takes his first starring role in Love Hurts this year.
A way off but an interesting subject that's based on a true story and that always interests me.
