Joaquin Phoenix Eyed to Star in Marvel's ‘Doctor Strange’

From The Wrap:

As Marvel finalizes surprises for its Comic-Con panel on Saturday, the rumor mill regarding “Doctor Strange” has reached a fever pitch and the actor who has been mentioned most often for the coveted superhero role is none other than three-time Oscar nominee Joaquin Phoenix, multiple individuals close to the casting process have told TheWrap.

I could see this, and I'm totally fine with it. He doesn't have a classic superhero look to him, but that might be for the best with this character.

I preferred the Jared Leto rumor. After seeing him in Dallas Buyers Club, that guy can play anything.

Truth. It's all rumor at this point, but hopefully the weekend will settle it.

Yeah I don't mind this, good casting

Strange is supposed to be an everyday man before he becomes Doctor Strange so this makes sense

Marvel does it again

Yeah, he was also rumored for Lex Luthor. Phoenix strikes me as the kind of actor who might turn his nose up to such a role. Plus I don't think this is supposed to be a mumblecore movie.

He would've made an excellent Lex Luthor.

I still get chills from his Gladiator performance. Never have I hated a villain as much as him before.

Save for Joffrey.
