The last time Mads Mikkelsen was at Cannes, he walked away with a Best Actor award for his turn in "The Hunt." Now two years later, he'll be back walking the red carpet on the Croisette, but in something a bit different. Instead of a Competition film, the actor will be hoping to thrill audiences in the Midnight Screening selection "The Salvation." And the first trailer is here.
Sam Love writes- It has been said many times, and it is true - it is very difficult to add anything fresh, original or new to the traditional Western genre. It’s a genre known and loved for its clichés and iconography – the stagecoaches, the dusty frontier towns, the horses and the shootouts; you can look at one scene from any Western and know exactly what you’re watching. Back in the 1950s and 60s, you were never far from a new Western film – some of which have become some of the most highly regarded films of all time, particularly the Spaghetti Westerns.
From Cinelinx:
Let’s face it. Westerns have been on the decline in recent years. It has been really hard to find a good one. That’s what makes The Salvation such a pleasant surprise.

Do I even have to say anything other than Mads Mikkelsen and Eva Green made a western called "The Salvation"? That alone should be more than enough to get you to put this on your movie watching list, but should you need an extra push, a new U.S. trailer has arrived, along with a handful of new images.
