'The Walking Dead': Norman Reedus Says Season 5 Will Be 'Completely Insane'

EW

It is about that time when actors for The Walking Dead are reassembling back in Atlanta to begin work on season 5 of the AMC zombie drama. With that in mind, we caught up with Daryl Dixon himself, Norman Reedus, recently and asked how much creator Robert Kirkman and showrunner Scott M. Gimple had told him about what to expect coming up. “A bit,” says Reedus. “Those guys are very good at telling you a bunch of stuff, and you sit there for an hour and you walk away and go, ‘What the hell did he just say? What’s going on?’ They’re very good at masking what they want to tell you.” (As someone that has interviewed both men several times, I can certainly attest to that.)

No offence but he also said the last eight episodes from the second half of season 4 were going to be their best and in the end most of them were a letdown

I wouldn't agree with your sentiment but that's your view.

I enjoyed it.

Even the one for example where it's basically Beth and Daryl getting drunk and talking about a load of crap for the entire episode.

It was a wasted episode, I'd rather of seen more of the Hunters going after Rick, Carl and Michonne. Least then when they got killed it would of more...you know...not slap dash

Everyone seems to think that each and every episode requires copious amounts of zombie destruction. I get that the zombies makeup effects are incredible and even the performances are amazing but the show is about people. Not the zombies. It's a human study really and you NEED episodes to take you deeper into their psyche. What motivates them to do what they do, Who were they before the fit hit the shan.

I know you won't agree with me but that's just reality of why episodes like that exist.

But an episode focusing on the hunters wouldn't be about the Zombies, no one is asking for shoot outs and Zombies. Just an episode which isn't bloody wasted on stupid things

Why would they get drunk in a hostile enviroment where the place isn't secure enough, makes no sense. While you could of had an episode on Rick, Carl Michonne as they try to stay one step in front of the hunters. It felt like we finally got to see this "enemy" group and then it was over in a flash.

Then you have the first episode of the second half of Season 4 which was basically watching Carl mope around with his bad acting, trying to be a little "bad ass".

You need episodes to push the story along, most of them in Season 4 didn't do that at all. Not to mention the finale wasting time on flashbacks, those flashbacks could of been added to a hunter themed episode as they hunt for Rick and co instead of shoving it into the finale. I mean you never add flashbacks Act 3 of a story, it's a writers first mistake when you've spent Act 1 and 2 building up the story, ACT 3 is supposed to be about going all out.

Fox

Every environment they're in is hostile. At a certain point, they have to either drop their guard and relieve some stress or continue on a risk a mental break. This is the world they live in and it provides a great opportunity for insight into the characters.

that episode was about the only bad episode that thy had...woulda been better if it was just Daryl...no dialogue.

The last alf of the season was great because they werent tethered down anywhere. You got to explore the world and the characters a lot more. I'm not sure what you and others were expecting? There can't be a humungous battle every season or otherwise it wouldnt be exciting when one did happen. It's a show that the story comes very naturally. Nothing seems out of the ordinary for a show that is very much about the extraordinary. I loved part 2 of season 4.

Pogmathoin3637d ago

I could understand if you played COD, and there is a 2 hour level talking about mom and dad, no action and being upset with it, but for Walking Dead, character building half season, where as the first 4 1/2 season was all action, and your complaining??? No pleasing some..... Thought the story line was great!

The peons want, "Moar blood!"

SaffronCurse3637d ago

I agree. The last 8 eps were bad.

JP13693637d ago (Edited 3637d ago )

Yeah, all that character development in a character-driven show was such a letdown. Especially that episode where two of them just "got drunk together." Unless of course the alcohol was used to bring down walls and display a kind of vulnerability you'd otherwise never see. But hey, who needs intelligently written dialog and plot when you can just satisfy the unwashed masses with yet more zombies and gunfire?

So is Negan finally going to appear in Season 5? I just finished Season 3 on Netflix. S5 will most likely be done airing by the time S4 is up on Netflix.

PS does the official site for AMC air the newest Walking Dead episodes? I'd like to watch Season 5 along everybody else, but I don't have cable. I don't think Hulu even has the show.

PSS I can see Norman Reedus having Sasuke's/Noctis' hair if he gels it up. That's what I was thinking the whole time he was onscreen. "Wouldn't it be awesome if he just transforms into a Super Saiyan out of nowhere, and uses Spirit Bomb on Woodbury right now?"
